CATARGORIES OF WATER

CLEAN WATER

Clean Water refers to water that is clean at the releasing source and does not pose a hazard if consumed by humans. Clean Water may become progressively contaminated as it mixes with soils on or within floor coverings or building assemblies (walls, decking, sub-flooring). Time and temperature, which promote the growth and amplification of microorganisms in water can also cause clean water to degrade to Grey Water.

GREY WATER

Grey Water refers to flooding from a source of water that contains a significant degree of biological, chemical, or physical contaminants. This can pose a significant health risk and can cause extensive damage to your property. Causes of Grey Water contamination are often flooding from toilet bowls with urine, water discharge from appliances, sinks, showers, and sump pump failures. Areas that have been contaminated by the water will need to be removed to prevent possible mould growth and mitigate any further damage to the property.

BLACK WATER

Black Water refers to flooding from an extremely unsanitary source with harmful bacteria and contaminants which will pose an imminent health risk. This type of flood damage usually comes from raw sewage caused by sewage backup. Other sources include seawater, rising water  from rivers or streams, ground surface water entering your home or untreated Grey Water. The microbes from this source can cause many diseases including Cholera, Typhoid, Hepatitis and numerous other gastroenteritis type illness.
